Thornhill Farm

Thornhill Farm in Faust Park

Thornhill Farm was built between 1817-1819 by Missouri's second governor, Frederick Bates. The farm and Faust Park is located on land that was originally owned by Frederick Bates and was part of the 1000 acres he purchased when he first came to Missouri. Thornhill farm, which includes the main house, two barns, a granary and other buildings, is listed on the National Register of Historic places. It is the oldest remaining governor's residence in the state of Missouri. A Bates family cemetery is located behind the house and in it are the graves of Governor Bates, his wife Nancy Opie Ball, and two of their four children.
