The hospital was founded in 1866 by Episcopalians who later were joined by the Presbyterians in a joint not-for-profit venture. In addition to the hospital, St. Luke's has more than 20 locations providing services around the St. Louis and St. Charles area, including a Pediatric Care Center in North County, 6 Urgent Care Centers, a Vascular Access Center and the Desloge Outpatient Center located across Woodsmill from the Hospital.
St. Luke's is a member of Spirit of Women, an elite coalition of American hospitals committed to helping women and their families and is the only hospital in St. Louis to be a member. St. Luke's Hospital features over 60 specialties, including pediatrics, cardiovascular care and surgery, general medicine, cancer care, orthopedics, general medicine, women's health and maternity, neurosurgery and neurology, outpatient services and comprehensive surgical services.
